My thanks to the International Chamber of Commerce, the Australia-Latin American Business Council, DLA Piper and the NSW Bar Association for their collaboration and support for this event. I hope that you can join us for what will be ADC’s last event for 2021, and an opportunity for those in Sydney to join us for Christmas networking drinks.

This year the Gala Dinner will be on a sultry summer evening at The Australian Golf Club. Seating is limited so please book your tickets early to avoid missing out.
In this issue of the Bulletin, I am delighted to announce ADC’s Training Calendar for 2022. Please see events and dates below. In particular, for those of you yet to complete your National Mediation Accreditation training, our ever-popular ‘Sizzling Summer’ Mediation Course starts on 12 January 2022 and we will be joined by special guest speaker, The Hon. Terry Sheahan AO.
It was Australian Arbitration Week from 18 - 22 October 2021. AAW21 was jammed packed with a myriad of speakers on a range of hot topics. ADC’s Associates and Interns covered events on AAW21 Blog, published in real time throughout the week. You can catch-up with a wrap-up of AAW21 in this Bulletin.
I wish everyone the best over the next few weeks leading up to the festive season. I will touch base with you again soon and hope to see many of you online and in-person on 14 December 2022.

High-stakes, multi-party, international negotiations are not for the faint hearted. There have been mixed reactions to the results of COP26. H.E. Mr. Alok Sharma, President of COP26 was brought to tears at a final press conference when China and India had made new demands after talks had moved into overtime. Australian Arbitration Week 2021 flew by; beginning on Monday, 18 October with the International Arbitration Conference and wrapping up with Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in the Space Sector on Friday, 22 October. It covered numerous cutting-edge issues along the week, including COVID-19, the environmental, energy and renewable sectors, advances in technology and changes in arbitration rules and practices that are ever-evolving. Disputes Boards: A Comparative Overview of the Indo-Pacific Region

Despite their advantages, Disputes Boards have not been embraced across the Indo-Pacific. While the value of Australian and New Zealand projects utilising DBs is close to $60 billion, many Asian countries have been reticent to use DBs as a means of avoiding and resolving disputes.
