The Australian dispute resolution industry gathered at the stunning National Maritime Museum on Friday, 2 May to celebrate ‘Oceans Nine’ the Australian ADR Awards 2025! From across the nation, guests arrived in black-tie and evening gowns, mingling with flutes of champagne before the Officers Dinner Bugle Call rang out to invite them to dinner. Crossing the forecourt of the museum’s Lighthouse Gallery they were welcomed onto country with a beautiful Smoking Ceremony; fragrant and meaningful with freshly gathered herbs from the harbour foreshore. Thank you, Mike Butler for your warm welcome.
And then came the Sydney Conservatorium’s Music Theatre students, wowing guests with a spectacular mass-choir performing Sydney from Muriel’s Wedding, by Kate Miller Heidke and Keir Nuttal. It was a foot-tapping, hand-clapping audience – enthralled with the incredible talent of thirty-four young singers who performed two brilliant sets during the dinner. Thank you, Sydney Conservatorium of Music for sharing your sensational talent.
With excitement mounting throughout the evening, the Australian ADR Awards ceremony began. ADC’s Chairman, John Wakefield extended a heartfelt welcome and The Hon. Chief Justice Chris Kourakis presented trophies to the winners of nineteen Australian ADR Award categories. To round out a wonderfully nautical night of celebration, Arbitrator, Judith Levine, was inducted into the Australian ADR Awards’ Hall of Fame. Thank you, Chief Justice Kourakis for your unwavering commitment to excellence in dispute resolution and congratulations to Judith and all winners in the 9th annual Australian ADR Awards.
