CONTENTS: Word from the CEO ADR Awards 2019: Thought Leadership National Mediation Training Conflict Resolution Training Word from the CEO My congratulations to all of the talented finalists and winners of this year’s Australian ADR Awards, and thank you to everyone who joined us at the Gala Dinner! We had a wonderful turn out of the ADR community; supporting and celebrating this year’s significant achievements.
My special thanks to Marcia Ella-Duncan OAM for her warm welcome onto the land of the Gadigal and Bidjigal peoples, and to the Hon. Chief Justice Tom Bathurst AC, whose erudite speech very much satisfied our audience’s appetite for after dinner humour.
Our special congratulations go to NSW Barrister, Mary Walker, who is the inaugural inductee into the Australian ADR Awards ‘Hall of Fame’. Our warm congratulations Mary on such a well-deserved honour.
ADC’s thought leadership series continues in the Spring, with six brilliant speakers discussing two important aspects of the intersection between law, culture and ADR.
In September our experts discuss Aboriginal Rights, Interests and ADR - A New Epoch? This is ADC’s 4th annual Aboriginal rights seminar, but for the first time we are simulcasting live across the nation. We are also sharing this expertise with colleagues across SE Asia and the Pacific, where indigenous rights are of similarly crucial importance. In another first by ADC, in late October we draw together our interfaith panel of distinguished clerics to discuss another crucial question for us all; Dispute Resolution and the Abrahamic Faiths, what is the role of ADR in intra and interfaith disputes?
On 3 October, Her Excellency The Hon. Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of NSW is presenting the Supreme Court of NSW ADR Address 2019. In Adelaide, The Hon. Justice Judy Hughes is presenting the ADR Address at the Supreme Court of South Australia on 23 October. We are honoured to have these two eminent jurists presenting the 2nd annual ADR Addresses.
The upcoming spring always marks the beginning of dispute resolution season (just before the silly season!). You will be busy, but I hope that you can join us for one or more of these important upcoming events.
Best Regards,
